The Superbowl is the biggest annual sporting event in the country. (Our national past time is baseball, which has now for better or for worse been supplanted by football–not be confused with what we call soccer here in the States, which is football to the rest of the world. America!) Depending on the teams that make it to the Superbowl, that decides which city the game is played. This often isn’t known until a couple of weeks before game day, so crew availability in that city is extremely tight. Many people also opt to not work that day so they can watch the game, or will charge a higher rate.
