Atlantic & NBC Sports Go ‘On Her Turf’ at Kentucky Derby

Some say it’s a man’s world.  For three women at the Kentucky Derby, it’s the ladies who rule.

In a new NBC Sports feature, On Her Turf, Atlantic explored the trials of women in the male-dominated horse racing and bourbon-making industries.  Reporter Britney Eurton sat down with horse racing reporter Donna Brothers (Lucky Enough to Work With) and Woodford Reserve master distiller Elizabeth McCall in a bar at historic Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky to talk about their personal experiences over mint juleps.

Capturing the conversation—as well as McCall’s preparation of their mint juleps—were two Sony FS7s helmed by our director of photography, with a dedicated sound recordist at their side. A hair and make-up artist was also on hand to make sure the ladies looked their best as they poured their hearts out, as well as their drinks.

You can catch the entire conversation on NBC Sport’s YouTube channel.
