We all know that the world is full of fascinating things, places, and people. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. On Science Channel/Discovery+’s Underground Marvels, we’re taken deep down into subterranean phenomena―from quarries and caves, to science labs and doomsday-prepper abodes. The docu-series, which premiered its second season this past summer, is produced by Phoenix Television, which specializes in providing premium non-scripted content.
For Season 2, Atlantic plunged the depths of the U.S. with local crews in Connecticut, South Dakota (specifically, at the Sanford Research Facility), Montana, Kentucky, Missouri, Arizona, Ohio, Florida, and West Virginia. There to capture it all on the Sony FS7 and FX9 in stunning 4K were local directors of photography, who also pulled double-duty recording audio. Making sure our shots looked as majestic as possible were local drone operators, who filmed with 4K DJI Inspire drones.
And now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll get back to another of our favorite past-times: spelunking.
