There have been myriad attempts at bringing Shakespeare’s classic play Romeo and Juliet into the 21st century, but David Hewson seeks to finally go where other iterations have not: with Romeo and Juliet: A Novel, a novel written exclusively for Audible.

Atlantic was there to capture it on the Sony FS7 as Richard Armitage recorded his performance at a studio in New York City, where our sound recordist and DPs captured some B-roll footage under the guidance of our producer.
The British actor (The Hobbit, Berlin Station) then sat down with our producer and chatted about utilizing accents to differentiate between characters, vocal modulation, and how Hewson’s story expands on the one we know so well with modern dialogue and sensibilities, while also fully immersing it in the time it was originally set.
