Atlantic and Laureus Talk Legacies with Simone Biles

A lot comes with leaving one’s legacy; no one knows this better than Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.  The now 26 year-old’s list of accomplishments reached new heights in 2016, when she tied with Shannon Miller as one of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts in American history.  Since then, she’s had four gymnastic skills named after her, as well as a national amateur competition called the Biles Invitational. Atlantic and Laureus caught up with the elite athlete to talk about her career thus far, and what kind of legacy she’d like to leave.

Atlantic filmed sit-down interviews with Biles and her mother Nellie over two days at the World Champions Center. With our local Houston crew, consisting of a director of photography and a sound recordist, Biles and her mother delved deep into the history of the Invitational, as well as her successful career and its legacy. In addition to interview coverage, our DP also shot B-roll and behind-the-scenes footage of Biles at the event on a Sony FX9 package.
